Bodywork effects on Awarness and Self-expression

Before getting on the table, I asked my clients to take a second to breath, feel inside, slow down, and express themselves by drawing a tree. A unique tree is drawn capturing something about that moment right before a massage. After receiving bodywork and coming back to waking consciousness, I asked them to draw tree again (without looking at 1st one); how does the pencil move now? Who is the I drawing the tree now? How is one color or motion chosen rather than another? Before stories come back to surface, the client can float a little longer out of their mind.

As you scroll through these trees...

Before making up any story, take a second to pause, notice how the tree feels for you. What are you drawn to? What does it evoke? Then stories come up, and notice those. Notice roots, foliage, fruit, background...Every tree is unique, every tree is an expression of self in that moment.

Why trees?

Trees live with the elements and in the moment, without judgement or intellectualized stories; drinking water when it falls, dancing with the wind when it blows, fruiting when the season is right. And with a lot of the same basic needs as humans; survival, reproduction,  growth, symbiotic harmony with surrounding, they might provide a powerful reflection of ourselves, unencumbered of the superfluous.
